Theme : diplomacy is the name of communication , representation and negotiation not just between the state but also in personal life ,in business life, in professional life and in universal life.
Diplomacy is balanced between two perspectives and platforms where conduct policy about external matters and negotiation about foreign policy.
Types and differences between them : Traditional diplomacy & legislative diplomacy Traditional diplomacy was to solve the conflict and create balance in power but legislative diplomacy known as new diplomacy taking over the traditional diplomacy which means to gain power in politics through diplomacy based on international law and organization.
Diplomatic Qualities: Well , diplomacy is something we do every day when we handle meetings and when we handle our personal relations but now diplomacy has become high status professional so it needs very special skills like knowledge of language and use of language etc.
To become a successful diplomat we need decision making skills , analysis foreign policy and understanding politics, knowledge of history and language literacy.
Successful diplomacy :
Reaching some kind of agreement, bargain and compromise that everybody can live with so everybody needs to give some things and compromise something.
Some types of dialogue and connection between two states and continued dialogue can build some form of understanding and engagement and then get it to negotiations and achieve a written outcome and both parties change in some way is successful diplomacy.
Failure diplomacy:
Parties came together to the aim of negotiation but walking away with enmity and with greater division and there is no more relation and talk and especially no back channel dialogue that is failure diplomacy so boycott and ending the dialogue means three is no possibility for any improvement that is failure diplomacy.
I think opening the door of dialogue from both sides leads to successful diplomacy and creates a way to reach agreement by listening to each other and understanding the perspective of others and being realistic about the needs and interests of both sides is successful diplomacy.
However, blocking the door of dialogue completely and increasing enmity is failure diplomacy.
Qualities of Diplomat :
The diplomatic genius is born, not made. But there are many qualities which may be developed with practice, and the greater part of the necessary knowledge can only be acquired by constant application to the subject. All are agreed that military command must be earned by long service in the army. In the same manner, it must be regarded as folly to entrust the conduct of negotiations.
The major tasks of diplomats, as I see them, are, first, linking their government’s decision-makers to foreign counterparts; second, advocacy of their government’s policies and views; third, negotiation on their government’s behalf; fourth, commendation to their government of ways to advance or defend its interests; fifth, promotion of trade and investment; sixth, protection of compatriots; seventh, management of programs of cooperation between governments; eighth, reporting and analysis of relevant foreign developments and realities; ninth, establishment of facilitative relationships with the officials and members of the elites who influence them; and tenth, cultivation of an image for their nation which is favorable to its interests.
These ten functions are inseparably connected. I cite this because the inseparable connection of functions is at the heart of any profession. Perseverance , patience , the ability to take risk, combination of skill and time is crucial. You need to be creative and know how to deal with them.be an actual fact and keep in mind realities behind the process.
British diplomat Robert Cooper has observed:
Different parts of the world are still living in different phases of history. Pre-modern, modern, and postmodern elements coexist in the same world, even within some of the same countries.6 There are major regional differences.
No model of diplomacy’s possible future is likely to fit all parts of the world the same way with equal realism, Some patterns are more likely to be realized in certain places. Other patterns, however, might become almost universal. The five models, or ‘fragments’ of diplomacy’s possible future history, I have given these names, the exact meaning of which may not, initially, be fully evident: first, ‘disintermediation’; second, ‘Europeanization’; third, ‘democratization’; fourth, ‘thematization’: and, fifth, ‘Americanization’.
Conclusion : Understanding the concept of diplomacy in the modern world is most important and all agreed the only solution for world peace and stability between the nation conflict is dialogue which is the main part of diplomacy. Diplomacy only can free the world from war and enmity and bring happiness for the humanity in this land.
